“The psychotic drowns in the same waters in which the mystic swims with delight” Joseph Campbell
As a trained and practising hypnotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I see clients from all walks of life, both at my private therapy room and remotely. Trained in providing a variety of counselling techniques according to the client’s unique requirements, I use a person centred approach.
I park my paradigms and concentrate upon delivering counselling in the client’s language. Seeking to understand life through the client’s lens, I can better assist them in identifying and processing unconscious drivers which may be causing self-sabotage and distortion.
I believe one of the aims of counselling is to sharpen those ‘lenses’ – and the only way we can do that is by beginning to truly know and embrace ourselves.
During this process, as the hidden comes to light, clients learn to relax and trust, and start to open up.
I started by specialising in anxiety disorders – and I still do. I believe anxiety is even more widespread than we might think; it is my professional experience that other presenting conditions mask underlying anxiety; anger issues, for example.
I am a conventional therapist. I am also an unconventional human being. I am trained to recognise the difference between neurotic and psychotic conditions; and I am not qualified to treat the latter. I am, however, qualified to recognise when non-conformists are experiencing anxiety for any number of reasons and assist them in managing that anxiety. I believe in the power of the mind above all, and in using that to the best of our abilities to make our lives and the lives of those around us the very richest they can be.
“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society” (Jiddu Krishnamurti).
I offer conventional therapy, for sure; but I also offer something more. Something slightly outside the remit of the conventional therapist. An understanding of the psychic realm.
If you are looking for a more unconventional counsellor who will give credence to personal experiences others may discount, then please contact me for an informal initial consultation. Assuming my counselling services are appropriate, hourly sessions will then be conducted on a weekly basis (weekly sessions are recommended for at least the first 4-6 weeks). £55/counselling hour (55 mins).
Please note: Because I work so closely with my counselling clients, availability is limited. I see no more than 9-10 clients a week and I’m very often at or near this number. If you’re interested in working with me, don’t delay! Email me To request a free informal assessment.
